    Gourmet trip 21/22 April

    Heyhey once more!

Just a word of warning: don't plan anything for the last weekend of the holidays as it is the gourmet tramp!! This is a most excellent trip with culinary delights (I know you are all waiting to drool over Sam's new cooking skills) and cocktails- what a combination!! The basic story is we wander into a nearby Tararuas hut (nearby so you can carry copious amount of food and refreshments) and then eat a lot! Past years have included such delights as steak for breakfast (not recommended) and creative cocktails by Annabel and accomplices (also to be wary of). And have no fear, nachoes are banned so true cuisine can prevail!!

Anyway so keep that weekend free in your holiday plans!

sounds awesome! I shall apply now for time off. I worked in a bar a few years ago, so have a plethera of excellent cocktail recipes which I can add to what sounds like a classy yet drunken evening. Good times.

Re: Gourmet trip - Three course meal Challenge

Not only bring lots of food, but people must not forget that the tussock monster is out there and unlss a sacrificial offering is made to said monster, it will be that last some lucky tramper will ever go on!!

Needless to say that I'll be there and would like to put the challenge out there now for  groups  or individuals who can make the best three course meal- there's no real point to going otherwise!! Also, a ban on Nachos will be in place, unles they're really gucci!!

Re: Gourmet trip - Three course meal Challenge

Well we could leave a bit of each meal out for Tussock Monster to choose from. We put it out at night and the food remaining in the mornng is the food of the losers, thus a winner is found!

We could also judge it using the silence scale. Bigger the silence better the food!

In all seriousness though, we could almost be organized enough to wrangle a bit of a wager or something
